Hotel Viking
Address: 1 Bellevue Ave, Newport, RI 02840
In the 1920's, Newport, Rhode Island emerged as one of America's most prestigious summer retreats. The nation's founding families - who spent their year shaping industry, politics, and culture - came here to unwind, bringing with them their taste, their wealth, and their vision. Word spread quickly, and Newports' beaches, festivals, and coastal charm began drawing a broader crowd.
Recognizing the need for a central gathering place, the founding families of Bellevue came together to build Hotel Viking - named for the Norse explorers once believed to have landed on these shores. From its opening, The Viking gave Newport's creative energy a home: a place where culture could take root and flourish.
Today, we are carrying that spirit forward restoring The Viking as cultural anchor for a new generations.
Set apart from the waterfront and perched on a hill above the city, The Viking offers respite from the bustle below and a timeless perspective on Newport. Walking up here and stepping inside is a quiet rite of passage, a crossing of a threshold into something more enduring.
This is not simply a place to stay. It is a place for locals, for regulars, and for those who seek more than a visit. It is a place for connection.
This upscale landmark hotel is a 12-minute walk from Long Wharf Mall Shopping Center and an 8-minute walk from the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum.
